Quick start

On air in four steps

From a fresh install to broadcasting on YouTube in under five minutes.

Add a source

Open Sources and click Add source: give it a name and pick the type — RTMP ingest or a local file.

Point your encoder at it

Copy the publish URL into the OBS stream settings. The source shows up in about three seconds.

Add a destination

Destinations → Add destination: pick YouTube, Twitch or Kick and paste the stream key.

Press Go live

One button in the top bar, and the stream goes out to every destination at once.

Public beta

Free during beta. And honest about what already works.

The core pipeline — ingest, mix, record, schedule, broadcast — works end to end. It also has rough edges, the occasional crash and breaking changes between versions. If something goes wrong, attach the log and open an issue: we reply within a few days.

The installer is small and memory use is modest: around 512 MB when idle and about 1 GB while on air.

FAQ

Common questions

During the public beta — yes, completely, with no limits. A paid tier will appear later, but mixing, broadcasting and recording stay free. Under consideration for the paid tier: cloud relay, advanced scheduling, encoding presets and a monitoring dashboard.
OBS is a software video switcher: it builds the picture out of scenes on one machine. Flumixa Media Server is a media server: it takes RTMP from external encoders (OBS included), mixes it, records it, runs it on a schedule and sends the stream to several destinations. OBS builds the scene; FMS runs the whole chain.
It isn’t — the build simply hasn’t been notarized by Apple yet, so macOS quarantines it like any unsigned file from the internet. Run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Flumixa Media Server.app" once and the app opens normally. Signing is near the top of the roadmap.
In the folder you pick under Recordings → Change folder; by default that’s your system Videos folder. Files are written as plain MP4 without re-encoding, so the output bitrate matches the source.
There is no hard limit — your upload channel sets the ceiling, because every destination receives a full copy of the stream. A 6 Mbps broadcast to four places needs roughly 24 Mbps of upload.
